The New Album for Spring 2026 … EDMONTONIA
About
There is, in my view, a general shortage of records about dinosaurs. This is my attempt to rectify the problem.
EDMONTONIA was a low-built, car-sized Cretaceous-era creature covered in bony plates and spikes. A monstrous, carapaced brute. I had a toy of it as a child. Later when I first visited the American Museum of Natural History in New York I saw the fossil of a real one for the first time. It is imposing.
This is an animal that knew exactly where life’s threats lay, and how to defend itself against them. It’s quite inspiring, really. For humans today, living in these times of fear, upheaval, and disorientation, it’s not so simple.
So I wrote this album about armored dinosaurs, armored people, extinction, regret, love, loss, and the sense that the world is evolving too fast for us to keep up and avoid extinction.
I hope you enjoy.
Praise for my previous album, “Cities Built Upon Cities”
“NYC indiepop artist JOE GENI radiates hope on third album 'Cities Built Upon Cities', produced by Charlie Nieland.” ~ Click Roll Boom
"With plenty of passion, excellent songmanship and fantastic elements here of Talk Talk, Gotye, When In Rome, boygenius and even Luc Plamondon’s ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’, what’s not to like? A cinematic tapestry of sound and song, the music weaves a story of life's journey, mirroring the city's evolution and societal shifts." ~ The Spill Magazine
"Captivating lyrics, woven into a tapestry of cinematic orchestration, mirror the dynamic interplay of life's experiences, urban evolution, and societal shifts. Built with operatic grandeur, the song's richly orchestrated foundation provides a soaring platform for stunning vocals that capture the essence of our times." ~ Amplify Music Magazine
